MP3Stor: CC Payments Work - Outside of the US

It looks like payments are disabled for some people at mp3stor for the time being (as well as JustMusicStore) as of 6/24/07. If the situation changes, I'll post it here.

EDIT: I attempted to make a payment from a US IP address, and then a European IP address - and it looks like if you are coming from the USA, you don't have the option of paying with credit cards.

So it looks like - at the moment - if you're coming from a USA IP address, you won't easily be able to make credit card payments on your own.  On the other hand, if you have a friend that has an IP outside of the US, you might be able to get them to transfer credits to you.  There is an option of "Transfer Funds" that you could use for precisely that.

MP3Stor: CC Payments Work - Outside of the US

Can anybody attempt to submit a payment through a Euro IP? If so, is there any instruction available on how to do so? I tried adding funds via the SMS option to no avail and would like to use this site.

SMS/Webmoney Options

It looks like Webmoney and SMS are my only options here (using a European IP). I didn't complete the SMS portion, but it appears that it should would ok.

What happened when you tried the SMS option?

I would suggest signing up for a Webmoney account (its free) and works pretty good.

SMS/Webmoney Options

When I tried SMS, it said it would send my password via text but never did. I tried to re-submit my info to prompt another text message but get a vague error message (Your mobile has not been charged. Please try again.) every time. I've tried the forgotten password option and get told that my registration is not complete. I'm still on the fence about trying webmoney, but at this point I may have to.

Webmoney works fine

With Webmoney you can add any amount with a minimum of $3.00 to your account. I just did it to find out if it was easy (I had never tried to buy credits at MP3Stor with Webmoney before).

So I'm reporting back to tell you that paying with Webmoney is as simple as using PayPay - after you pick the amount at MP3Stor, you are forwarded to the Webmoney website (wmtransfer.com) and you confirm your payment. Then you're sent back to MP3Stor and your balance is automatically updated.

The only thing I'm not sure about is how easy it will be to fund your Webmoney account. If you are coming from the US, it looks like these are your best options:

1) Bank transfer. I know it might sound scary (or difficult) if you've never done it before, but it's really not. Here in Europe it's such a standard thing that it really only takes about 2 minutes online to complete one. In the US, if you have an online banking service it might be easier - you can probably do the transfer in your browser rather easily. The only downside is that most US banks tend to charge crazy fees ($10-$30 or similar) for doing a transfer unless the account is at the same bank. Maybe you will be lucky and a transfer will be easy.

2) Get a CashU card (or if you're in the UK or Europe, check UKash or paysafecard). You can fill this card with a credit card and then transfer it to your Webmoney account here. This has the advantage that you can use your credit card, but you've got to go through an extra step. I signed up there, but I didn't add money to my balance - but I found that you can use your credit card if you are coming from Europe or the United States (and pretty much anywhere else).

3) Transfer from a different e-currency. There are several websites that will exchange money from PayPal into Webmoney (for example, here here and here, but I'd probably try the CashU (#2) method first. Those exchange sites charge you between 13.9-17% to make the exchange using PayPal.

I hope this is helpful!

Webmoney

I have started to try to fill my mp3stor account with money using Webmoney (I am in Europe). There is a EUR10 max per day on transferring funds from a paysafecard into a Webmoney account, so this is far from ideal. If you are prepared to hand over your passport details to these guys, you can get the max raised to EUR200/day. Before heading towards Webmoney, I tried to top up using SMS. I sent the text to the appropriate number and got a positive response from my phone - a confirmation message - but the balance has not been updated in my mp3stor account, so that was GBP5 down the drain. Frankly, unless I can pay via a secure credit card or paypal, I am not keen on trying to go through the complex workarounds that some of these mp3 sites demand of me... just a thought.

Mp3Stor.com Payments

I don't have a clue how to put money into my newly opened mp3Stor.com account. Has anyone (in the US) had success adding funds? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We believe we are a not

We believe we are a not barrier to the conclusion of WTO negotiations and that Representative Schwab has deliberately mischaracterized our company. As a Russian-based company, we operate legally under Russian law. It appears the U.S. government is a willing partner in the campaign being waged by the big record companies that wish to shut down our company managed dedicated hosting. And, unfortunately for us, it appears that the U.S. government also sees AllofMP3 as a wedge issue to gain concessions from the Russian government in exchange for its support for WTO ascension. AllofMP3 is not a barrier to Russia's bid to join the WTO. The company is simply being used by the U.S. government to gain concessions from the Russian government in exchange for its support for WTO ascension asp net hosting. It looks like the RIAA and big music labels have won a battle, if not the war, against massively popular AllOfMP3, a Russian music download site that sells MP3s for as little as two cents per megabyte. The site has been shut down, again, reportedly at the hands of the Russian government. Russia agreed to force the site to shut down last year, in response to pressure by the U.S. government and the RIAA. The site has been under constant fire over the last two years. For a brief history of its travails, see our coverage (in chronological order, skip to the end of the list for the most recent stories): AllOfMP3’s parent company, Media Services free hosting, has taken a firm position that the RIAA should go to hell. In a now famous response to a RIAA $1.65 trillion (yes, trillion) lawsuit for copyright infringement, the company said: “AllofMP3 understands that several U.S. record label companies filed a lawsuit against Media Services in New York,” an unnamed “senior company official” stated. “This suit is unjustified as AllofMP3 does not operate in New York. Certainly the labels are free to file any suit they wish, despite knowing full well that AllofMP3 operates legally in Russia. In the mean time, AllofMP3 plans to continue to operate legally and comply with all Russian laws.” A new site, very similar to AllOfMP3 and also owned by Media Services, launched simultaneous with the shutdown. MP3Sparks looks to be a clone of AllOfMP3 in all but name.

payment to mp3stor

I think you can create (in the USA too) your account in e-gold bank and from there have the funds transferred to mp3stor. I've tested it, it's quite easy.

Updated

Thanks for the notification, I changed the top post to reflect that payments (with credit cards) don't work from the USA, but do elsewhere (at least from Europe).

Credit cards from the US did

Credit cards from the US did work until recently. I used one maybe 6 weeks to two months ago and it was fine. When I went to reload my balance, the credit card option was gone for US. I'll have to find another site since I'm not satisfied with their remaining payment options.

I wonder why cc payments

I wonder why cc payments were removed from people from the US? Does anyone think it has anything to do with the copyrights of the songs since mp3stor is different in payment of copyrights than the US and other parts of the world? I'm downloading songs but feel a bit on the fence about just how legal it is to download songs from mp3stor.com
