Can these sites be used for djs?

fair license The works available from mp3million.com are protected by the Law of the Russian Federation "On Copyright and Related Rights" and are for personal use of a buyer. Commercial use of such material is prohibited. Recording, copying, distribution on any media is possible only upon special consent of a Rightholder. Most of these sites say something similar and some include broadcasting so my question is buying tracks and using them to DJ is that legal cause it is if i purchase them off of itunes but is it off of any of these sites? PS Im in Canada

iTunes?

I am just curious, I don't know anything about the laws regarding public performance. But how do you know that if you purchase something from iTunes you are legally allowed to give public performances with those tracks? My current understanding is that this is probably not currently the case, but I do not know this for a fact.

If anyone can provide some links that give more insight on this (whether a person can provide public performances with tunes downloaded from iTunes or not), then I'd be happy to find out more about it.

My gut tells me that whether you use iTunes or one of these sites (or Bittorrent) that you cannot simply start playing music for public performances (DJ'ing, for example) without providing some kind of further compensation to the artists (much like a radio station would). If that is the case, then you are in the same boat regardless of where you buy a track from.

If someone out there actually knows what they are talking about and is a DJ that has already been faced with this same situation, we'd be happy to hear from you.
